Product Details
You’d think a helmsman traditionally would steer his ship from a platform positioned in front. But the opposite is true, the man holding the large wheel in two hands steered the windjammer and even steam vessels from the back, often without protection against wind and weather. Helmsmen steered a course using a compass for guidance. The captain of first mate called out details on a projected course, observing wind and weather. In our modern speak helmsman has taken on mythical proportions.
