Product Details
A compass boxed marked for lifeboat No. 7. Sliding lid box is hand made in solid mahogany. Lifeboats carried also blankets, some spare life-vests, maps, and sometimes flare-guns. These compasses were also used by fishermen roaming the Grand Banks for cod. Interesting story. A compass helped to locate the mother ship. Tough life, ocean fishing a century and more ago.
