Named Golden Arrow in the UK and La Flêche d’Or in France this first class boat train was one of the few successful Franco-British cooperations ever. It served as a First Class Only passenger train from Paris to Calais, seamlessly transferring passengers on a luxury ferry across the channel to Dover.  From Dover a British engine called the Lord Nelson pulled the ten opulent Golden Arrow Pullman carriages to London Waterloo station. After WWII a luxury dining car with a large and popular bar was added to the arrangement.
